My Crayfish Died While Moulting plus Crayfish Gallery
Crayfish moult approximately every month or so. If they are in a tank with other Crayfish, they are most vulnerable during the moulting process which may take up to two hours. Unless they are in a sheltered nook, the other Crayfish may attack and even eat her. After moulting, the shell is soft and takes a few hours to harden. This Female was literally 'frightened out of its skin' by an aggressive Male, and could not complete the moulting process.So it died.
