I love the Scottish Language (Gaelic): The Lord's Prayer in Scottish

The Lord's Prayer in Scottish

I am starting to fall in love with the Scottish language. A Scottish friend just said to me: "Lang may yer lumb reek" . At first I thought he was using vulgar language on me. But now, I know it means " Long may your chimney smoke" which is like saying " I wish you a long and healthy life". What a nice way to put it.

Comments

  1. I do not know Scottish language and hence couldn’t understand the prayer. Glad to see you’re enjoying it but I wish you had posted the english translation as well.

  2. No matter what language you use but there are the feelings which are attached with such poems and that needs no language. God's love can be defined in any language.
